PROUD TO BE PURPLE
Return to story
The mascot... the fight song... the school cheer... traditions you'll find at any university. But for the first time this year, the UW-Whitewater started a new tradition -- honoring traditions.
In this story, see what happens when teachers, coaches and peer mentors lead hundreds of freshman through honored school traditions and help them start one of their own... to paint it purple!

Fantastic!
What a great idea! I have fond memories of my time at UW-W and I can see that this class of incoming freshmen is going to have just as much fun. Best of luck to all for a great year.

I'm only 14, but I know
I'm only 14, but I know where I'm going for college! UWW!!!!!!!!!
Great stuff
The best traditions are the ones that celebrate other traditions. I wish that my school had specialized traditions while I was undergoing my online RN to MSN programs, as it would have helped me even further to connect myself with my fellow students (although the online tools made this a lot easier than I thought).
Club U-Dub-Dub
I think this was a really great idea! It gave the freshman an opportunity to become involved on campus. Most people probably don't know this, but the student portraying Willie Warhawk (our mascot) was a freshman, as well!
This was a really great program, and a great video!
UWW Student Video
It was fanstastic to see Tony Sabel on the UWW student video. Keep up the attitude and the hard work!!!

Welcome to the Freshmen!
I love this idea and I only wish the idea came up back in 2003 when I was a Freshman. The band sounded great (as they always do) and it's nice to see everyone get into the Warhawk spirit, something I've tried to keep alive for five years and even now as an alum. Good luck Freshman, and LET'S GO HAWKS!!
Grandson safe at UWW
I am so happy to have you share with me these stories from UWW. How proud I am that my grandson is there. Keep him safe.
Love from Grandma
CLUB U DUB DUB
CLUB U DUB DUB WAS A BLAST! Thank you Whitewater for making me feel connected to Whitewater right off the bat! I am so glad I chose Whitewater.
UWW Freshman Video
How cool is that! I'm so proud that my daughter is a Freshman at UW-W. She is having a 'blast'. I do miss her (only 45 minutes from home) - but I feel she is so safe at UWW that I'm not worried at all.
Thank you for taking care of her!! :)
Her Mom!
