This is a great story. I would like to know the name of the drug that Michael Tuohy is taking. My father turns 70 today, and has had multiple myeloma for 3 years. We would really appreciate someone contacting them and finding this out for us. Dad's bones are still in pretty good shape, but this chemo is really hard on him. He is willing to do it, though, because he has such a fighting will to live. I would also like to know if the Tuohy family will be coming to or near Kentucky on their trip. I would like to take my dad to meet them. Thank you for the story.

Katy and Jay, great job capturing what myeloma is, how it impacts a family, and that there is hope for a good quality of life as exhibited by the Tuohy family. Having an incurable cancer is very devastating, made even more formidable when very few people have heard of the disease. Most families with a myeloma diagnosis never heard of multiple myeloma before, myself included. The literature suggests a very short life span. With good information, regular education, and quality medical care, myeloma patients can expect a long and good quality of life. The Tuohy family is not only distributing literature about myeloma and the resources available through the International Myeloma Foundation, more importantly, they are distributing hope for patients and families.
